A police canine in DeLand, Fla., situated and safely returned a lacking little one to his household.
The little one, a 3-year-old boy, was reported lacking to the DeLand Police Department at roughly 11:30 a.m. on March 29, the division shared in a Facebook post.
After the toddler was reported lacking, “all available property and assets had been deployed instantly as officers performed a large search, specializing in a wooded space behind the boy’s home,” the police division added.
But it was one police canine who finally grew to become the search’s most useful asset. “Using the boy’s blanket, Okay-9 Midnight and his handler Corporal Clark searched by the woods,” the DeLand Police Department shared.
During the search, the canine — who’s skilled to seek for narcotics along with lacking individuals — picked up the toddler’s scent on a path in a forested space and led authorities to him, per the social media publish.

“He was dragging me by the woods, like he was simply he wasn’t gonna cease,” Clark instructed native NBC affiliate WESH.

Midnight has been with the Florida police division since 2022, and when he is not on responsibility, he’s a candy pup who likes to play ball, Clark instructed WESH.
But the canine is all business when the pair is on the clock.
“I’m the dumb finish of the leash. So he does all of the work,” the handler stated. “My job is simply to learn him, learn his physique language … and perceive what he is telling me as a result of he cannot speak.”
