COLUMBIANA — The city’s dog park near the neighborhood walking path will hold a soft opening quickly, City Manager Lance Willard informed council previously this month.
The big park on 1.75 acres in Firestone Park includes 2 different locations for big and little dogs, water, and climbing up and play barriers to keep dogs captivated.
The job is among the lots of efforts of the Restoration and Beautification Committee of Columbiana to enhance Firestone Park.
“The dog park is looking great. It will be a very nice addition to the park,” Willard said.
In other business, council likewise authorized a brand-new 5k run/walk to raise funds for the Youngstown Humane Society.
Blake Sitch, Director of Operations for Athletix, a big sports complex on state Route 7 in the city, asked for approval for the “Mutt Strut” the business will hang on Sept. 16.
Athletix opened to the general public in September 2022.
“We are glad to be here, glad to see you guys here, and also support the community,” Sitch informed council.
Sitch said the business prepares to host the race each year.
“We appreciate Athletix being in Columbiana. You’re a great addition to the city and we appreciate your efforts,” Mayor Rick Noel said.
Council likewise authorized a demand from Brian Frederick, owner of Eldritch Bazaar, to host a business grand opening today, Saturday and Sunday.
Frederick transferred to the city in 2009 and the brand-new business is tailored towards parlor game lovers.
