A Tioga County, Pennsylvania couple died when a blaze broke out at their home over the weekend.
The fireplace began round 3 a.m. in a residence at 160 Mosher Road in Chatham Township, in line with Chatham Township Fire Chief Matt Watkins, who mentioned he was the primary responder on the scene.
The home was totally engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived and was a complete loss, Watkins mentioned.
He confirmed Leland Morse Rouse, 84, and his spouse Laura Lillian Rouse, 79, died within the fireplace, together with their canine.
Leland Rouse was born in Blossburg and Laura was born in Coudersport, and so they have been married for almost 62 years, according to their obituary.
Leland was a farmer and a Chatham Township supervisor for a number of years, and each he and his spouse have been energetic in 4-H, the Tioga County Fair, and the Chatham Township Volunteer Fire Department, the obituary said.
