KLANG: Poultry farm owner Rajes Donarow was having a cup of tea while sitting outside his home last Saturday (May 27) when he saw a sight that shocked him to the core.

A man from the same village, who had a durian plantation and a landscaping business, said Rajes, was driving an old car while dragging a dog chained to the back of the vehicle.

“The dog’s paws were all bleeding and the dog had collapsed and the gravel was also scrapping its chest while the man continued driving,” said Rajes who lived in Kampung Sri Parit, in Lukut, Port Dickson.

Rajes gave chase on his motorbike and signalled for the man to stop but the man continued driving.

“I then overtook the car, blocked it and pulled the keys out of the ignition and asked him why he was dragging the dog in such a cruel manner instead of using the lorry or four-wheel drive that he owned,” said Rajes.

He said the man told him that he was moving the dog to another one of his plantations which was about two kilometres away and claimed the dog did not want to get onto the lorry.

However, said Rajes, when he unchained the dog, the bleeding canine immediately jumped into the car.

Rajes said he then called the police and by then many by-passers had also surrounded the man and his badly injured dog.

Policemen who arrived at the scene then asked both Rajes and the dog owner to make police reports.

“I was also advised to take the matter to the Department of Veterinary Services,” said Rajes.

Rajes said he believed that the dog may have succumbed to its injuries given that it had been bleeding profusely.

When contacted, an officer from the Lukut district police headquarters confirmed that both men had lodged police reports over the matter.
