DETROIT (FOX 2) – A family of 6 and their dog Blue are all residing in their van after a fire damaged their home.
“Everything is gone that’s truly all I can state,” said Janet Kelley. “We’ve remained in our van accumulated simply residing in there.”
They do still have each other though.
Last week – their duplex ignited in the leading level after the other occupant’s kids were having fun with a lighter.
Two of Janet Kelley’s children and their uncle were home at the time, off Beniteau Street on Detroit’s East Side. The oldest lady Zoey and her uncle went out safe.
“This was our only house and we never ever had one in the past,” said child Zoey Kelley. “I believed among my sis got harmed or my cat or dog.”
One-year-old Chantal was still inside your home when the family says Blue darted back into the fire.
“He went running back into your home since he understood Chantal, my youngest remained in her playpen,” Janet said. “The firemens needed to chase him up and as soon as they got up there, they recognized that was going on.”
Janet is encouraged, since of Blue – the child is now safe and unimpaired.
The family got him 2 years earlier from Detroit Dog Rescue, he hardly made it through a severe life as a puppy on the streets of Detroit, and now he’s this family’s devoted protector.
“No dogs are enabled at a shelter and I decline to leave Blue since God understands where my family would lack him,” Janet said.
The Red Cross actioned in to cover a hotel for a couple of nights otherwise, this time of year, the family’s strapped for money.
“I’m a landscaper so ideally when the sun occurs I can keep the money rolling in, to keep us steady,” said Chantal’s fiancé Daquan Davis.
The ladies simply wish to return to school – and they, simply wish to provide the kids a home once again.
“If there are any property managers out there ready to provide us an opportunity and help us out,” Janet said.
