MT. PLEASANT — A Mt. Pleasant family suffered damage to their home and lost their family dog, Tank, in a house fire, Wednesday night, and the neighborhood right away rallied around them.

Around 9 p.m. Wednesday, July 26, emergency situation teams from Mt. Pleasant, New London, and Salem reacted to reports of a house fire in the 400-block of North Main Street.

While the preliminary fire situated on the very first level of the two-story home was rapidly torn down by Mt. Pleasant and New London teams, an overall of 25 firemens invested roughly 3 hours going through the home to look for locations.

Considering the severe heat of the week and smoke from the fire, emergency situation workers took additional care.

Even prior to understanding the degree of the fire, the neighborhood started to rally together as they brought emergency situation team members consuming water throughout their 3 hours working to make sure the fire was out.

In the exact same method, the neighborhood has already started to rally assistance for Deanya and Bill Birdsell family after this loss as a social networks campaign starts to spread out.

“The Birdsell’s had a home fire, they are safe however they lost their beloved dog Tank,” Deanya’s sister-in-law Michell Ailey published to Facebook. “They will be in transition and working through the process to restore their home. Please consider giving to them to help with all of the unexpected expenses.”

Ailey says those wanting to help can present the family practically through Venmo @Deanya-Birdsell or Cash App $billbirdsell or mail present cards to P.O. Box 863 Mt. Pleasant, IA 52641

The reason for this fire stays under examination at this time.
