A girl who was killed in an attack by dogs – considered XL bullies – has been named as Esther Martin.

She was discovered critically injured within the seaside city of Jaywick, close to Clacton-on-Sea, Essex, on Saturday afternoon.

A 39-year-old man from the village has been arrested on suspicion of harmful canine offences and the animals have been destroyed.

Police mentioned they believed she had been attacked by two dogs, which her daughter mentioned have been the banned breed.

Detectives mentioned they have been ready for the breed to be confirmed by specialists.
