Do you believe your dog has what it requires to win “Best in Show”? There’s a family friendly dog contest in Churchville this weekend.
Will 8 pound Georgie be crowned finest in program or will it be huge, furry Zürich or cutie-pie Jake? Your dogs are welcomed to complete for the title too in the first-ever Churchville-Riga Chamber of Commerce “Best in Show” occasion Saturday at the Churchville American Legion.
Elisa Guernsey is arranging the occasion and is wanting to get the neighborhood together to raise some money for her church, St. Christopher’sand GRASP dog rescue.
“What I love about this community is the way everybody rallies together,” Guernsey said. “Through this event I have been able to meet more people than I have all the previous years that I have lived here.”
GRASP has actually been saving, wanders off and abandoned dogs for more than 25 years. Zürich, a Saint Bernard, was on the euthanasia list recently however is now in a foster home trying to find his permanently home.
“We all volunteer our time,” GRASP volunteer Abby Curatolo said. “Our fosters volunteer their time homes and GRASP provides the food and vetting through donations from community support and fundraisers. Events like this where we can not only get our dogs visibility and get our name out, but also make some money to help with our mission. It is incredibly important to continue to do what we do.”
