MONROE, La. (KNOE) – Around 1:00 within the afternoon, Monroe Police division responded to the Louisiana Purchase Gardens and Zoo after the shot spotter indicated gunfire.
According to the Media Relations Director for the City of Monroe, Emily Stogner, zoo officers have been notified of two stray dogs getting into the emu enclosure and attacking the animal. Stogner says employees members on the zoo adopted protocol and shot the 2 stray dogs with a firearm. The emu, in addition to each dogs suffered deadly accidents.
Stogner says the employees members on the zoo ensured the encompassing space was protected earlier than firing on the dogs.
