Downing Street reveals work to cut dog attacks after wave of occurrences in Greater Manchester

Downing Street says work is underway to attempt and lower dog attacks following a wave of occurrences in Greater Manchester and throughout the nation. Our area has actually seen 2 catastrophes triggered by dog attacks in the space of a year, plus a minimum of 4 other major dog attacks.

Daniel Twigg, referred to as a ‘caring little boy’ who ‘liked animals,’ was attacked by a dog outside a property on Carr Lane in Milnrow, Rochdale on May 15 in 2015. He was hurried to healthcare facility after suffering a heart attack, however regretfully passed away a brief time later on.

A Cane Corso dog was destroyed at the scene of the disaster and 10 other dogs were taken by authorities, of which none were prohibited types according to Daniel’s inquest opening. A 48-year-old man was jailed under the Dangerous Dogs Act in connection with Daniel’s death in 2015, prior to he was launched on bail.

And on May 19 this year, 37-year-old dad Jonathan Hogg suffered deadly injuries after he was assaulted by a dog, thought to be an XL bully type. The dog, which authorities said was ‘precariously out of control’, was later shot dead by armed police.
