A dog owner who feared their pets had been lost has been reunited with them after police found two spaniels wandering in a field.

While patrolling near Maidstoneofficers came across the animals but their owner was nowhere to be seen at the time.

Thanks to the canines being microchipped, police were able to match them and bring them back home.

The owner was said to be “thankful” to see their pets.

Meanwhile, the search continues for another dog in the Maidstone area whose owner was hit by a suspected drink-driver while they were walking.

A group has been set up to help the rescue animal after a woman was hit when walking in Laddingfordnear Yalding, last Saturday.

The owner remains in hospital and one of the dogs she was walking at the time, Bibi, has been found but Rosa is still missing.

She is a 10-month-old female cross breed with grey, black and white colouring. She is very nervous, especially around men.

If a sighting is made, people are being advised not to call, chase, run after or follow Rosa.

Instead, you should note a time, the location, the direction the dog is headed, behaviour, and take a photo before ringing 07718 229188.

Rosa has distinctive markings on her legs and has half a tail.

It is believed that she was wearing a red harness before she went missing, and that she would have had two leads attached – although she could have chewed them off if stuck.

It is a double-ended lead meaning it is a big loop which could easily get caught on a branch or fence.
