It’s the most wonderful time of the year… to wear an ugly sweater. And it’s not just humans who are wearing Christmas-themed sweaters but some pets are being roped into it too.

Like Jack, a black and white dog, who isn’t happy about his red and white hooded jumper. So much so, he would rather hide his face.

His dramatic reaction to the sweater has left the internet in hysterics and racked up 6.2 million views, at the time of writing.

The TikTok video posted by owner Jessica, from California, shows Jack ignoring her while resting his head face down on a wooden step in the backyard.

Jessica’s voice can be heard assuring her pet that she “can take the sweater off” if he doesn’t like it, but the dog appears to be so annoyed that he can’t look at her.

At the time of writing, the clip, captioned “Gonna be paying for years of therapy after this stunt…” has amassed 494,800 likes.

As comical as the dog’s reaction may seem, it’s important to “only dress up your pet if you’re sure they’re comfortable and not stressed while wearing their outfit,” the Animal Humane Society recommends. No matter how cute an item of dog clothing may be, owners are advised to check it is made from non-toxic materials and they mustn’t paint a pet’s costume as that could be harmful if ingested.

Putting a dog in a costume requires more work than you think. The Animal Humane Society also warns owners to never leave their pet unsupervised when dressed and to always avoid any potential choking hazards which may include small beads or sequins.

Canines may not be able to verbally communicate but they are very good at letting their owners know how they are feeling through body language. During the viral video, Jack appears to be extremely distressed but Jessica has since uploaded more clips that show all isn’t as bad as it seems. He can be seen running and jumping wearing the snowflake print sweater.

So far, the original video has amassed over 10,000 comments. One is from Jessica who told another user that he was “so embarrassed.”

Another user said: “Jack bark twice if you need help.”

One person said what they believe Jack is thinking, it said: “I just can’t let the neighbors dogs see my face in this thing!”

A third user said: “Jack has given up on life,” and a fourth said: “Jack was MORTIFIED.”
