A 70-year-old dog walker was threatened by a Villager equipped with a knife in a fight over politics.
The dog walker was out for a stroll at about 10:30 a.m. Friday on Truman Avenue in the Village of Silver Lake when 59-year-old Terence Childers left his home at 722 Truman Ave. and started arguing with the other man about “political differences,” according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department.
Childers started screaming obscenities and punched the dog walker in the chest. Childers took out a big silver bowie knife from a holding case and informed the other man he wished to “cut his head off.”
The other man run away with his dog and called police.
Police officers went to the home of Childers, who had actually been apprehended in 2022 in an attack on his sweetheart who left him at a bar. Childers right away tried to purchase the officers to remain off his property. He withstood their efforts to position him in handcuffs. He was discovered to be in ownership of the big silver bowie knife. It was taken as prospective proof.
The Kentucky local was apprehended on charges of attack, battery and withstanding arrest. He was booked at the Lake County Jail and launched after publishing $8,000 bond.
