Dog walker ‘lucky to be alive’ after snake sinks teeth into her ankle

A lady who was bitten by Britain’s just poisonous snake said she “would not want it on her worst opponent”. Beau Avis said she’s lucky to be alive following the frightening attack, which sent her into anaphylactic shock and saw her leg “double in size”.

The 26-year-old was walking her dog along a nation lane when an adder unexpectedly appeared and sunk its teeth into her ankle. Beau, who was with her daddy Kevin, was hurried to health center and took into resus, where she said she was “wandering in and out of awareness”.




“I didn’t have any control over any element of my body,” Beau informed the Mirror. “It was really frightening.”

She said she was “actually lucky” that medics at the Queen’s Hospital in Romford had access to anti-venom, as “a great deal of health centers do not tend to hold it”. However she said the specialist needed to call the Poisons Information Service to discover what dosage was required.

The PR employee, who resides in Brentwood, Essex, invested 2 days in health center as she needed a 2nd dosage of the remedy when her leg started to swell to “double the size”. “It resembled acid being put over your legs,” she said.

Beau, who is still in discomfort and having a hard time to walk following recently’s snake attack, said the opportunities of being bitten by an adder in the UK is “unusual”, including: “Apparently you’re most likely to be struck by lightning, the chances are so little.” Stats state there are just around 50-100 events of the reptiles biting annually, with 70 percent of these not leading to major injury.
