A bulldog-type canine that attacked two males and tried to attack a police officer was shot 4 instances.

Armed police have been known as to the Tinto View space of Hamilton on Tuesday, January 23 at round 5pm following reviews of a giant canine attacking individuals.

Emergency providers rushed one man to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital to be handled for severe accidents.

The “dangerously out of control” animals was shot 4 instances by armed police after it tried to attack an officer, a watch witness instructed STV News.

Another man who was attacked by the canine on Loudonhill Avenue, shortly earlier than the incident on Tinto View, was taken to Hairmyres Hospital to be handled for minor accidents.

CCTV footage confirmed a person limping into a close-by store at round 5.25pm, showing to examine a bloody wound on his decrease leg.

The man then retreated additional into the again of the store following the attack.

Kevin Pace, an eyewitness to the incident on Tinto View, instructed STV News: “Two guys have been on the canine on the time.

“I phoned the police, different individuals phoned them as effectively and after they arrived they tried to strategy it (canine).

“They cleared the realm, they weren’t having it. They tried to taser it and that didn’t work.

“Eventually armed police had to be called and they put it down with four shots.”

Police described the incident as “distressing”.

The canine’s physique was taken for specialist veterinary evaluation, however police stated it was not attainable to determine its particular breed or historical past.

Superintendent Steven Espie stated: “This was a distressing incident for these concerned. I want to reassure the local people that this was a contained incident and there’s no additional threat to the general public.

“There might be a continued police presence within the space whereas our enquiries proceed.

“Enquiries are also ongoing to establish the breed of the dog.”

A spokesperson for Police Scotland added: “A firearm was discharged through the response to this incident.

“As with any firearm discharge, the circumstances of the incident will be referred to the Police Investigations and Review Commissioner (PIRC).”
