A girl robbed at gunpoint over the weekend has been reunited together with her canine, who was stolen within the attack.
The incident occurred after 10 p.m. Saturday in Washington, D.C., when a suspect approached a lady walking her canine and pointed a gun at her, demanding her canine, based on the Metropolitan Police Department. Police stated she fought to get her canine again from the suspect and was assaulted. The suspect fled with the canine in an awaiting car.
The girl, recognized by several outlets as Zaleena Ahmed, made fliers and blasted posts on social media in a frantic search to convey her beloved 14-year-old Westie named Max home.
On Tuesday, MPD stated somebody noticed Max wandering in Kenilworth Park.
The person was a D.C. resident named David Graham, who acknowledged the canine from media protection, based on The Washington Post.
“When (the canine) rotated and I noticed the spot beneath his eye, I knew it was that canine within the information,” Graham advised The Washington Post.
Graham introduced the canine to police, who contacted Ahmed.
The pair had been reunited on the sixth District police station.
“It wasn’t like a film, with Max working to me,” Ahmed advised The Post. “I used to be the one who ran to him, and kissed him throughout.”
Ahmed stated she introduced Max’s meals and water bowls and a blanket and T-shirt in case he was moist — together with an ice cream deal with. While Max was visibly exhausted, he was seemingly unhurt.
Police recovered surveillance video from the night time of the incident and are following leads.
An investigation stays ongoing.
