The Akita, paradoxically called Rocky, was reduced the mountain in the Lake District on a sledge after ending up being too exhausted to continue the walk.
A dog which declined to walk needed to be rescued from England’s greatest mountain by a group of 13 in an operation which lasted more than 4 hours.
The “hurt and tired” pooch, who was apparently called Rocky and of the Akita breed, stayed “cool, calm and favorably regal” throughout the rescue by the Keswick Mountain Rescue group.
The rescue group were designated the job after the dog’s owners at first called the cops, asking for help after their family pet declined to walk on their return journey from Scafell Pike – England’s greatest mountain in the Lake District.
Descending as best as they might towards Grains Gill, a river near the Esk Hause mountain pass, the “cold” owners were satisfied by the rescue group who made the Akita “comfy in a ‘casualty bag’ on the stretcher” prior to bring the animal back to the location of Seathwaite Farm.
A representative for the Keswick Mountain Rescue group said: “Despite being rather a big dog at 33kg it was a pleasure to bring such a reasonably light-weight casualty.”

The National Trust website alerts that the long and rocky surface of Scafell Pike suggests it is just ideal for dogs “utilized to long strolls in the fells”.
It suggests presenting your dog to a couple of much easier strolls prior to attempting to scale the mountain.
