A 51-year-old has been hospitalised in a terrifying canine attack. The sufferer was walking his personal canine, a Weimaraner, close to the Port Vale coaching pitches, in Burslem.
He described how he noticed a Dalmatian-type canine, off its lead, ‘bounding’ in direction of him with its ‘mouth wide open’ earlier than it locked onto his hand.
He mentioned: “I used to be walking my canine. I noticed this canine bounding in direction of me after which it launched at me. It was off the bottom, with its mouth was huge open. amd then it clamped onto my left hand. The ache – I felt my bones crunch.

“I didn’t assume; I simply reacted. I pulled my canine to at least one facet. It took me right down to the ground. Then my canine and theirs engaged in a combat between one another.
“I used to be on the ground however managed to drag myself up onto my knees to separate the dogs. The different proprietor got here.
“They pulled the canine away and left. My hand was in a foul mess. I went again home and my companion drove me to A&E.”
The sufferer had a tetanus injection in hospital and had his wound cleaned and closed. However, it grew to become contaminated and the sufferer is now on antibiotics and strict orders of relaxation and restoration till docs can decide whether or not he’ll want physiotherapy for ligament injury.
He mentioned: “I do groundwork; I’ve been out of labor. It’s left me incapacitated actually. It’s very troublesome. I usually walk the canine with my companion and her daughter. The silver lining is that it was me and never them.
“I’m a dog-lover. I know the owner never intended for their dog to do any harm, but people should be made aware that all dogs can be dangerous and should be kept on a lead at all times in a public space. I’ve purchased some dog pepper spray and insist my partner carries it with her at all times.”
Staffordshire Police have been approached for a press release. The incident is reported to have occurred round 6.30pm on Saturday, November 11.
