A “catastrophic mechanical failure” triggered the airplane to crash off the coat of Rancho Palos Verdes, authorities stated.
RANCHO PALOS VERDES, CA — Federal Aviation Administration investigators arrived Monday on the scene of a airplane crash that left the pilot and his canine needing to swim to security on shore.
The crash occurred at about 5:30 p.m. Sunday about 200 yards off the shore of Rancho Palos Verdes close to the Trump National Golf Club, based on the Lomita Sheriff’s Station.

The pilot, Christopher Krajacic, and his canine had been in a position to safely exit the Piper Saratoga plane and met with first responders on the shore.
“The occupant of the airplane and his canine made it to shore and had been met by Lomita Station Deputies,” authorities stated.
A “catastrophic mechanical failure” triggered the crash authorities stated, and the airplane fully sank into the ocean according to reports from ABC7.
FAA investigators had been notified and the circumstances of the crash are nonetheless underneath investigation, authorities stated.
