Members of the Cave Rescue Organisation were contacted us to help in recovering the border collie which was on a ledge covered in loose rock.
Settle firemens at first participated in the occurrence and after that members of CRO were called at 2pm.
A CRO representative said: “When one member started roping down, the edge was discovered to be rather loose, so there was a hold-up while the group’s Larkin Frame, an aluminium tubular fabrication which is put together on website, was brought from Clapham.
“This was set up and repaired in position.
“The member who had actually offered was decreased to the ledge and verified, regretfully, that the dog had actually not made it through the landing. Having put the dog, thoroughly, into our big animal bag, the member and bag were transported to the top by staff member and firemens, however not without rattling down a couple of loose stones en route.
“The dog’s remains were gone back to its owner and all present assisted return the equipment to group cars as night fell.”
