Dog proprietor Elizabeth Crawford has been left devastated – after her beloved pug was killed by a hit-and-run driver. “Another bloke had got out of his car and tried to chase Izzy to catch her. Two women helped him, they put Izzy in their car and took her to the vets.”
Elizabeth added: “We walked in and Izzy had blood everywhere. Her jaw had snapped and her eye and brain were damaged. They said no surgery in the world could save her. She had to be put down.”
Izzy had beforehand been rescued by Elizabeth and her 17-year-old daughter. The pair bought her when she was two years old.
Elizabeth mentioned: “She was a rescue canine from Belfast. She had been uncared for, wasn’t consuming, she’d been over-bred.
“How can you hit a dog and go off and leave it? It would have been a different story if they had stopped. But they didn’t, they drove off and left her lying there. How could they? I think they’re cowards.”
