At round 1.50pm on Friday, December 1, a 63-year-old man was walking his canine alongside Manley Road when the pair had been struck from behind by the car, whose fled the scene.
Sadly, the canine died on account of the collision and its proprietor sustained two damaged bones in his leg, requiring surgical procedure.
Enquiries in relation to the collision are ongoing and police are interesting for witnesses and video footage.
Police Constable Phil Brewster stated: “This is an especially distressing incident and we’re dedicated to doing all that we are able to to hint the person accountable.
“As a part of the investigation we want to hear from anybody with was within the space and believes they might have witnessed the collision or have dashcam footage from Manley Road across the time of the collision.
“We’re additionally eager to listen to from residents on Manley Road with CCTV or video doorbell footage from across the time of the collision.
“The incident is believed to have occurred at 1.50pm on Manley Road, between the Simons Lane and Hazlehurst Road junctions.
“Therefore, I’d ask anybody who resides on Manley Road to examine their cameras between 1.40pm and a couple of.10pm to see if they’ve any footage which can assist the investigation.”
