A Louisiana couple just recently got up to a surprise when they found an alligator in their home.

Don and Jan Schultz simply recently moved into their home in New Iberia, Louisiana, from Arizona, when they got up to their Australian livestock dog Panda, informing them of the alligator’s existence, Don Schultz informed ABC News in a declaration.

Thinking somebody remained in your house, Don Schultz headed down the hall to have a look at what his dog was responding to when he discovered a 5-foot alligator, the property owner informed Lafayette ABC affiliate KATC in an interview

The alligator went into the home through the doggy door, according to the station.

The couple called 911, and Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries officers caught the alligator, according to KATC.

“We are genuine grateful for the constables and Wildlife and Fisheries that came therefore completely dispatched the animal from our house,” Jan Schultz informed KATC. “I think it’s off swimming in a bayou someplace.”

The couple said they just recently bought a pet door lock that just communicates with the dog’s collar to avoid any additional events.

“We are taking preventative measures and putting a locking dog door in now that just opens with the dog’s collars, so we will not have this surprise in the future,” Don Schultz informed KATC.

Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries did not instantly react to ABC News’ ask for remark.
