After months of looking for a lost wedding event diamond, a Boise lady had actually basically quit hope of ever discovering it. But her dog pertained to the rescue.

Earlier this year, Katrina Lemmon’s diamond fell out of its setting. She’s been using it for twenty years because weding Erick Baker.

“It was there one day, and I was getting ready to go to work, and it wasn’t on my finger,” Lemmon said.

She browsed her house — even putting a set of pantyhose over the vacuum and rolling over every nook and cranny in their home.

Then, previously this month, she was clearing out a hall closet. And her dog – a Great Dane that passes Txiki (pronounced like ‘cheeky’) got in the image.

“I was cleaning out this closet, and my Txiki baby was not leaving me alone. I was frustrated with him and was like, “Txiki!” I hardly ever get mad at him – so I resembled — ‘oh I’m sorry, good child.’”

As she got Txiki’s big Great Dane jowls to reveal him her love — he returned the favor, with a sign of love.

“The diamond rolled off my left thumb and rolled on the ground. It was unmistakable!”

Txiki – whose name in Basque equates (paradoxically) to small — offered her a huge present.

“It was on his lip,” Lemmon said. “He has these big fat jowls that are so sweet. I grabbed his face, and I put my left hand on one side of his face and my other hand on the other side – and it was on his lip, and it rolled off my thumb and onto the floor.”

She said she believes Txiki understands what he had actually discovered.

“He was extremely persistent and didn’t want to leave the closet. I think he knew it was there.”

Like any good owner of dogs, Lemmon credits Txiki’s smarts.

“He’s a genius,” she said. “I’m his dog mom, so I’d like to think that — maybe he was just like, ‘oh rock, mommy wants to play.’ But he didn’t grab anything else in there.  He didn’t have any shoes in his mouth — just that one thing on his lip.”

Lemmon said after the diamond went missing out on, her hubby Eric pointed out how their 20th wedding event anniversary was showing up.

“He said, ‘don’t be sad, it’s ok,’ – he’s the sweetest, he’s the best. I knew it would be OK.”

But Txiki’s love — and perseverance — assisted bring the diamond back from the depths of the closet, in the nick of time for the huge anniversary.

“It made me so happy, and my baby is so sweet,” Lemmon said.
