PETALING JAYA: Changgang, the dog that was consistently shot with a BB weapon and left for dead at an oil palm estate in Banting recently, has actually left from a veterinary center in SS15, Subang Jaya, where it was being dealt with.
The canine, which was kept in a cage, is thought to have actually left from the center at about 4pm the other day.
Sani Ng Abdullah, who rescued the roaming on June 29 and called it after the town where it was discovered – Kampung Bukit Changgang – said he looked out of the missing out on dog by the center at about 6.15pm.
“My wife and I were at the clinic at about 3pm to visit Changgang and we took some food to feed it,” Sani informed The Star.
“Just three hours later, we received the bad news. We are sad it has gone missing. We have launched a search for it together with other animal rescuers.
“It could not have gone very far and is probably hiding nearby.”
Sani said the dog has more than 20 ball bearings embedded in its body and they are yet to be eliminated as the dog is still unsuited for surgical treatment.
“Only one ball bearing was removed and handed over to police for investigations,” he said.
The case was reported to the authorities and is being examined for cruelty versus animals and incapacitating animals under laws of the Animal Welfare Act and Penal Code.
Police have yet to determine the perpetrators.
The Star reported on July 3 that regardless of being unlawful and unsafe, gas-powered ball bearing weapons, much better referred to as BB weapons, which look like genuine guns, are being offered on e-commerce sites.
Sani advised those with details on Changgang’s location to call him at 016-611 2777 or animal rescuer Chia Boon Woo at 012-311 1132.
