The sight of an enormous hammerhead shark was an unusual reward for 32 tourists on a trip boat in the Bahamas today. But then, something complete stranger still: A dog dove from a close-by dock to face the monstrous sea animal.
Tourists aboard the four-hour trip can be heard screaming and pleading with the dog to reverse, in a video distributing on social networks. “Oh my god!” and “Get out baby!” and “Stop going after it!”
The dog neglected them and paddled after the 12-foot shark, which surged as the 2 animals circled around each other in transparent blue-green waters near a personal island in the southern Bahamas. Then the shark swam away gradually, much to the pleasure and surprise of the crowd.
“I don’t think the shark is going to mess with him!” exclaimed one guy.
The shark had actually emerged from under the boat throughout a trip Wednesday in the southern Bahamas arranged by Exuma Water Sports.
Company bookings supervisor Rebecca Lightbourn informed The Associated Press on Friday that the black-and-tan dog constantly runs along the coast to welcome the boat when it passes that island. But it’s the very first time it was seen diving in.
“I guess this time the dog decided he wanted to protect his house or play with a really big fish in the water, so he went after it,” Lightbourn said.
When the shark swam far from the pier, the medium-sized dog rushed back onto the rocks and loped away, making applause from the travelers. The boat then headed to a popular location where travelers delve into the water with the distinguished Bahamian swimming pigs.
