A ‘dangerously uncontrolled’ dog was shot dead this morning after mauling one other pooch and leaving three individuals injured. Police had been known as to East Kilbride this morning after the animal – believed to be bulldog-type canine – attacked a Collie in Mannering at round 10.25am.

Officers had been unable to get the dog below management and needed to name for again up. Armed police had been scrambled to the scene earlier than locals heard a gunshot ring out.




An investigation is now underway to ascertain the breed of the canine, and a probe can be carried out by the Police Investigations and Review Commissioner (PIRC) as a firearm was concerned within the incident.

Three individuals suffered ‘minor accidents’ within the incident, though is just not clear whether or not they required hospital remedy.

A Police Scotland spokesperson mentioned: “Local officers attended and tried to restrain the canine which was dangerously uncontrolled. Armed officers subsequently attended and the canine was shot useless by police.

“Three individuals reported receiving minor accidents throughout this incident. Enquiries are ongoing to ascertain the breed of canine and there can be a continued police presence within the space whereas enquiries proceed.

“As with any firearm discharge, the circumstances of the incident can be referred to the Police Investigations and Review Commissioner (PIRC).”

One native man mentioned: “Three armed police items arrived and cordoned off the world, then I heard a gunshot. Nobody actually knew what was happening.”
