Children of all ages and members of the Special Needs Book Club will promote their handmade crafts and merchandise at Saturday’s Makers Mart.
The Monroe County Library System‘s second Makers Mart will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 4 on the Ellis Library & Reference Center, 3700 S. Custer Road. Admission is free.
Makers Mart debuted in 2019 and was anticipated to turn into an annual occasion. But, due to the pandemic, that is simply the second providing.
The return will function 40 space kindergarteners by highschool seniors. Also taking part are members of the library system’s Special Needs Book Club. The entrepreneurs will maintain their proceeds.
The artists had been chosen for the present by library system employees. Participants will employees cubicles on the Markers Mart and promote their crafts, art work, candles, canine treats, sensory bottles and woodcrafts.
Library system employees member Lucy Ingels got here up with the idea for Makers Mart.
“Lucy was at a craft show years ago and saw a young artist displaying his work. His enthusiasm really caught her attention. She wanted to give children in Monroe that same opportunity and knew the library could bring her idea to life,” Barbra Krueger, neighborhood outreach coordinator for the library system, mentioned.
“The Makers Mart was created to provide youngsters a venue to showcase and promote their wonderful creations,” Ingels mentioned. “It can be a fantastic alternative for teenagers to work together with the general public in knowledgeable surroundings.”
Members of the Special Needs Book Club create artwork whereas listening to tales learn by Lori Goins, youth providers technician.
“The artwork has been a fantastic, expressive exercise to have interaction our e-book membership pals,” Goins mentioned.
The e-book membership has met at Ellis Library & Reference Center for the final 4 years. It’s for individuals of all ages. Some of the individuals come from the Mill & Fiber Guild and St. Isadore’s Farm in Monroe.
