Coronation Street will air a tragic improvement in Roy Cropper’s jail storyline subsequent week, when his pet canine Freddie is taken hostage by web vigilantes.

Viewers have not too long ago seen Roy officially charged with the murder of missing teenager Lauren Bolton. The café proprietor is now residing in prison awaiting trial, having been denied bail.

With Roy locked up, his buddies and neighbours have been rallying spherical to run the café and look after Freddie in his absence. But suspicious members of the public haven’t been making life easy for anybody related to Roy.

In scenes that can air on Monday (April 22), Sam Blakeman calls on the café to select up Freddie, having promised Nina Lucas that he would walk the canine earlier than college.

But as Sam heads out with Freddie, he would not realise that an novice sleuth who’s grow to be obsessive about Lauren’s case is watching him from a desk within the nook.

Soon afterwards, Sam arrives again on the café with out Freddie. He’s completely distraught and explains that the canine ran away from him.

Nina and Toyah Battersby shortly head out to search for Freddie, whereas Evelyn Plummer stays behind to thoughts the café.

Back at Roy’s Rolls, Nina, Evelyn and Asha Alahan watch a video uploaded by the sleuths, who affirm they’ve taken Freddie hostage. They cruelly demand that for Freddie to be returned safely, Roy should confess to Lauren’s homicide.

What will Roy’s family members do in response to the nasty calls for?

This week, the soap released the contents of an emotional letter penned by Roy to his family members, by which he states that he has “been unkind to individuals”.

“Evelyn, I want you to know that your friendship has been… The phrase that involves thoughts is crucial,” the letter continued. “For my lack of appreciation and my ingratitude, I’m really sorry.”

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
