A police marksman has shot and killed a “dangerously out of control†dog this morning, after it injured three individuals and mauled a collie.
Officers had been referred to as to the scene in East Kilbride this morning after the animal – believed to be a bulldog-type – attacked the collie canine at round 10.25am.
Police referred to as for backup after they had been unable to get the savage canine beneath management and needed to name in armed items. Officers with weapons arrived on the scene and shortly afterwards locals reported listening to a shot ring out, the Daily Record stories.
The Police Investigations and Review Commissioner (PIRC) will look into the incident, because it concerned a firearm, and an investigation is underway to find out the breed of the canine.
Three individuals suffered ‘minor accidents’ within the incident, though just isn’t clear whether or not they required hospital therapy.
A Police Scotland spokesperson mentioned: “Local officers attended and tried to restrain the canine which was dangerously uncontrolled. Armed officers subsequently attended and the canine was shot useless by police.

“Three individuals reported receiving minor accidents throughout this incident. Enquiries are ongoing to ascertain the breed of canine and there shall be a continued police presence within the space whereas enquiries proceed.
“As with any firearm discharge, the circumstances of the incident shall be referred to the Police Investigations and Review Commissioner (PIRC).”
One native man mentioned: “Three armed police items arrived and cordoned off the world, then I heard a gunshot. Nobody actually knew what was occurring.”
It comes simply weeks after one other bully-type canine was shot throughout an incident Hamilton, close to Glasgow. Officers had been referred to as after the animal referred to as Zeus launched an attack within the city’s Tinto View.
Armed police had been pressured to taser and shoot the canine 4 instances. A 48-year-old man was reported to the Procurator Fiscal over the incident, for alleged offences in breach of the Dangerous Dog Act.
