The SIC convener has helped get our medication canine fundraising marketing campaign off to a flying begin.
Andrea Manson was the primary to donate after The Shetland Times’ Crowdfunder went reside – with £50 added to the trigger.
After just some hours the marketing campaign is already approaching the £200 mark.
A separate petition has already amassed greater than 800 supportive signatures.
And there have already been donations from neighborhood security and resilience board chairman Allison Duncan, who matched the £250 donation that The Shetland Times made to kick-start the marketing campaign.
Ms Manson mentioned the under-funded charity was one thing “we really can’t do without” within the isles.
“A good dog can make the world of difference,” the North Mainland councillor mentioned.
“Parents will appreciate it because of their children.
“As a granny, I can appreciate it as I have grandchildren growing up on the island.”
Ms Manson mentioned that the entire neighborhood appreciated the charity’s work – and advised Police Scotland must be paying for it.
“Maybe they can use the money they save from closing the Brae Police Station.”
The Shetland Times’ marketing campaign is urging the Scottish authorities to channel money from the proceeds of crime to help Dogs Against Drugs.
Our Crowdfunder is hoping to assist it proceed with its important work of conserving medication off the streets within the brief time period.
In recent years, it has struggled to search out the £120,000 a 12 months it must survive.
Dogs Against Drugs has been operating at a loss to cowl gasoline, pet food, wages and vet payments.
