A Cole County deputy is recovering after he was attacked by a canine whereas on name Friday afternoon.
At 6 p.m. Friday, two deputies responded to a home and property destruction name within the 11900 block of Main St. in Centertown, in accordance with a press launch from the Cole County Sheriff.
When deputies arrived, the topic opened the door to talk with the deputies when a canine ran out of the home, jumped and bit one of many deputies within the hand then charged towards the opposite, states the discharge.
The non-injured deputy fired a spherical on the canine. The canine continued to strategy the second deputy, prompting him to fireside one other spherical, killing the canine.
The injured deputy was handled and launched from the hospital. The canine that was killed was taken to the Jefferson City Animal Shelter for testing, in accordance with the discharge.
One man was arrested on the scene for fourth-degree home assault and property destruction. He is presently on a 24-hour maintain on the Cole County Jail.
