COALING, Ala. (WBRC) – A Coaling lady is recovering from a brutal canine attack Tuesday. Thankfully, the sufferer goes to be okay. This occurred Sunday afternoon behind a church in Coaling.

Michele Battles had a daunting encounter behind her church and the injuries to show it; a deep gash under the precise eye, srcatches above the identical eye and a minimize on her lips.

“So it makes it hard to move my right eye. All I can remember seeing was his mouth and my whole face was in his mouth,” says Michele Battles.

Around 12:15 Sunday afternoon after the morning service, Battles says he seen a homeless man and his teen daughter and felt the ‘spirit to feed them and their 40-pound border collie who was tied up in the back

Battles says she got the food at a nearby store including dog food.

“I was kind of leery because he had them tied up over there, he did growl. He was running around playing,” says Battles.

Running around while the man and his daughter packed up the food Battles had purchased for them, Battles says the dog appeared to be friendly.

“And so I stood right here and the dog was right here and started eating some food we had poured on the ground,” says Battles.

Battles says as he was feeding the dog, it attacked.

“He lunged on me and had my face for a snack,” Battles says.

Battles required several stitches and several rabies shots, although she doesn’t consider the canine was rabid.

“I had to take 6 yesterday and have to go back Wednesday and take some more,” says Battles.

Michele Battles has had two days to digest all of it and what puzzles her is that it was a border collie that attacked her. A fellow parishioner witnessed the attack and drove to Battles to DCH in Tuscaloosa for therapy.

“I am surprised and everybody is saying a border collie, really?,” says Battles.

There isn’t any anger. The shock has worn off. Michele Battles is on the mend. Battles says she determined early on to not file fees as a result of they had been homeless. Battles says she has no concept the place they’re right this moment together with the canine.

“She’s like.. you’re bleeding,” a fellow parishioner informed Battles.

Michele Battles is predicted to make a full restoration from her wounds and there’s no proof the imaginative and prescient in her proper eye has been affected.
