IMMOKALEE, Fla. — On Thursday, June 29, a troubling event in Immokalee unfolded when a man’s released dog assaulted a smaller sized Chihuahua, Ace, on a surrounding property, leading to the smaller sized dog’s terrible death.
The owner of the guard dog left the scene at Custer Avenue without stopping or revealing any issue for the hurt Ace.
Maria Mendoza, Ace’s owner, shared her heartbreak and disappointment in the after-effects of the attack, stating, “I was crying all the way home, praying to God that my dog would hold on so I could say my final goodbyes.”
“I was very heartbroken. I wanted to say my final goodbyes. It was so upsetting seeing my dog in its cold blood,” she included.
The Domestic Animal Services (DAS) has actually reacted to the event by revealing voluntary euthanasia for the dog and providing a fine for the offense.
“Their animals aren’t safe. If you are walking on a leash, animals in your yard…and another animal comes and kills it. If you aren’t willing to sue them, there’s no recourse on the animal,” revealed Tom Kepp from SNIP Collier, assessing the traumatic attack he experienced by means of Ring electronic camera video.
Kepp even more included, “He didn’t get out. This wasn’t an accident. And that should be the difference in this,” promoting for higher responsibility for family pet owners.
The event has actually raised conversations about accountable family pet ownership and the requirement for more rigid procedures to avoid comparable incidents in the future.
“I’m so angry at them for not knocking on the door, or they could have at least taken action,” Maria Mendoza said, revealing her disappointment with the absence of responsibility.
“The dog owner didn’t care. He didn’t care to check on my dog. They didn’t care to knock on the door and let us know… hey my dog just attacked your dog,” included Mendoza.
Collier County Domestic Animal Services considers this scenario an active examination.
