ST. PAUL — Three 4-H youth from Cass County participated within the Minnesota 4-H State Dog present Sept. 23-24.
The following youth have been members of the Cass County delegation:
- Gertie Dice, Pequot Lakes, with canine Letty: Rally – Foundation – Blue Ribbon.
- Kendall Hovde, Brainerd, with canine Ollie: Agility – Elementary – Blue Ribbon, Champion Award; Agility – Jumpers 1B – Blue Ribbon, Champion Award; Obedience – Graduate Beginner – Blue Ribbon, 1st Award of Excellence; Showmanship – Open – Blue Ribbon.
- Dixie Rowell, Pine River, with canine Charlie: Obedience – Foundation – Blue Ribbon, Reserve Champion; Rally – Foundation – Blue Ribbon; Showmanship – Novice – Blue Ribbon.
In complete, 363 youth and 417 dogs from throughout the state participated on this annual occasion, held on the 4-H Building on the Minnesota State Fairgrounds.
Over the two-day occasion, 4-Hers display their expertise and information in agility, obedience, showmanship and rally, competing towards different youth of their age group and expertise stage.
Youth members of the Minnesota 4-H Dog Project be taught to coach and build a trusting relationship with their pet. Topics of examine embody canine habits, breed traits, ailments, ethics, grooming, well being, vitamin, accountable breeding, service dogs, remedy dogs, dog-related careers and the big range of canine sports activities.
