Social media videos revealing a female striking a dog and chuckling landed her in prison, the Cameron County Sheriff’s Office said by means of Facebook on Saturday.
Sheriff’s authorities said Jennifer Leah Martinez was jailed on animal cruelty accusations and booked into the Carrizalez-Rucker Detention Center in Olmito on Friday.
Deputies found out of the accusations after meeting an unknown person, who lives out of state, in the Brownsville location on May 11.
“According to the complainant, she saw several videos posted online on Jennifer Leah Martinez’s social media and it showed Martinez striking a small dog while it drank water,” the constable’s workplace said in a press release published on Facebook. “Upon further investigation, the Deputies obtained video footage of Martinez striking the dog, they attempted to make contact with her at her residence but no one answered.”
The constable’s workplace went on to state that a video revealed Martinez “laughing and joyful as she struck the dog several times with her open hand.”
Investigators discovered more proof from Martinez’s social networks account and protected a warrant for her arrest for cruelty to non-livestock animals, according to the constable’s workplace.
