Two guys have actually been apprehended after a car with a two-year-old dog within was taken in Melbourne’s south east.

Brighton regional Richard Buxton had actually driven to his regional grocery store to purchase some bread and milk on Wednesday early morning when his black Mercedes was taken outside the shop with his cavoodle, Moe, within.

Two guys were apprehended by cops at 11.45am after they got away the scene of a crash on Dorothea Mackellar Ave in Oakleigh East.

Police state the guys, a 20-year-old from The Basin and a 25-year-old from Ashwood, were driving a white BMW which is thought to be connected to the taken Mercedes.

The set are presently helping cops with their queries.

The Mercedes and the two-year-old dog are yet to be discovered.

‘It’s like a bad dream’

Buxton said he was just in the Brighton Grocer on Were Street for a couple of minutes when he believed he saw somebody inside his car.

“As I was walking past the cash register, I could see the car and I saw someone in it,” he said.

“My first response was … there were a couple of black cars out there, (I thought) someone was sitting in the wrong car, or I was looking (at) the wrong car.”

When he understood it remained in reality his station wagon, Buxton began rapidly walking towards the vehicle.

It was then that he saw Moe, who he had actually left in the car, sitting beside the male.

“As soon as I got within three metres, the engine started, bang he reversed (and) sped off down Were Street at 100 miles an hour at least,” Richard said.

Buxton said the male was using an orange or yellow coloured high-vis and was not Caucasian in look.

He informed 7NEWS that other witnesses had actually informed him a white BMW SUV had actually brought up behind his car prior to the event.

“A guy got out and jumped into my car, and they [the witnesses] thought it was something normal, they didn’t know (if) it was his car or whatever until I came out,” Buxton said.

“They saw the SUV drive off as soon as he [the offender] started the engine.”

Terry Buxton said she remained in shock at what had actually taken place to her “beautiful boy” Moe.

“I love him to the moon and back. I can’t believe this has happened, (it’s) like a bad dream,” she said.

“I just hope somebody’s out there and will find him and bring him back to me, I don’t care about the car.

“The thing that bothers me is they just might dump him on the road and he might get run over.”

Richard confessed that he had actually left his car type in the middle console of the vehicle.

“It’s such a quick thing to happen,” he said.

“Normally if I was going away into shops and things like that I would’ve locked the car, this is just a sort of the local store.”

Moe is microchipped and is using a collar with both a mobile and home telephone number on a silver disk.

The taken car is a black 2017 Mercedes C250 station wagon with roofing system racks. The licence plate number is VBG 946.
