Police had been referred to as to the incident at round 6.45pm final evening (Wednesday November 29) on Monks Lane.
At this time there are not any additional accidents, and enquiries are ongoing to determine the proprietor.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police stated: “At 6:45pm this night (Wednesday November 29) Greater Manchester Police had been referred to as to stories of a canine attacking one other canine on Monks Lane, Bolton.
“Police attended the scene; one canine is deceased, and the offending canine has been contained and will likely be seized.
“No additional accidents have been reported at this stage.
“Enquiries are ongoing to identify the owner.”
Ward councillor Cllr Adele Warren says it’s at all times unhappy when a canine loses their life, and she or he has urged all canine homeowners to make sure they’re accountable.
She stated: “It’s actually necessary that when you personal a canine that it’s below management, and that’s what being a accountable canine proprietor is about,
“As a canine proprietor I do perceive how troublesome it may be.
“Accidents can happen when you take your dog out, but we have to make sure we are keeping other people and dogs safe.”
