Boy mauled by assist canine at Sanctuary Point Public School, NSW

A little bit boy was left with scratches to his face after he was mauled by his faculty’s assist canine when he tried to present it a hug.

Blade Fraser, six, was attacked by assist canine Buddy at Sanctuary Point Public School, on New South Wales’ South Coast, on August 22.

His mom, Kellie Kuczynski, stated Buddy was on a lead held by the college’s principal when Blade approached and requested if it was okay to cuddle the pup.

However, when he bent right down to hug the canine’s neck, Buddy turned and bit Blade’s face, inflicting a number of severe cuts.

Ms Kuczynski acquired a cellphone name from the college simply moments later and, together with Blade’s grandmother, rushed to select up the distressed six-year-old.

Blade was initially taken to a medical centre however was redirected to the emergency division at Shoalhaven Hospital.

‘He appeared very white, very pale, like he did not know what was occurring,’ she instructed the ABC on Friday.

‘He had blood everywhere in the collar of his shirt.’

Counselling has been supplied to Blade, a giant animal lover, alongside together with his household and any witnesses of the assault.

Ms Kuczynski claims the canine was operating round with out a leash when she collected Blade.

A Department of Education spokesperson has since confirmed the canine has been completely faraway from the college.

SafeWork NSW and the Shoalhaven City Council have been concerned within the investigation into the assault and located Buddy had attended lessons with college students on the faculty since 2019.

The native council stated Buddy was not thought of a ‘harmful canine’ and no different incidents with the canine had been reported.

The labradoodle was skilled as a ‘assist canine’ and supplied emotional assist and companionship to college students.

Under NSW division pointers, assist dogs are required to be with their handler always and don’t want formal accreditation to be on faculty grounds.

Instead the dogs endure specialised skilled coaching and an annual check-up by a certified canine coach.
