A roaming dog potentially hurt by a coyote was discovered near Foothills Parkway and Arapahoe Avenue on March 28, according to a Boulder Police Department tweet.
The Humane Society of Boulder Valleya non-profit organization that offers services for animals in Boulder, thinks the dog was assaulted by a coyote a week prior to being discovered, according to the tweet.
According to Boulder Police Department representative Dionne Waugh, the dog looked “pretty injured when he was found.”
The dog is presently on a 120-day quarantine duration till “we’re able to find his guardians to tell us if he’s been vaccinated for rabies,” according to the tweet.
“We haven’t located the dog’s guardian, and his guardianship transferred to HSBC on Sunday after a five-day stray hold mandated by the state of Colorado,” said Jan McHugh-Smith, the CEO of HSBV.
According to McHugh-Smith, the dog will stay at HSBV under the care of its veterinary group to recuperate from his surgical treatment.
“Once he is feeling better, we will assess his health and behavior to determine next steps for his best outcome,” McHugh-Smith said.
He is referred to as white with tan coloring, 119 pounds, “possibly” Pyrenees/Labrador mix and is anticipated to make complete healing, according to the BPD tweet.
“It is our goal to provide access to veterinary care to prevent and alleviate suffering and help animals recover from illness and injuries,” said McHugh-Smith.
