The proprietor of a Beeston-based canine grooming business has opened a second department within the space in response to excessive demand from clients. Six years after opening her first Smarty Paws in Chilwell Road, Beeston, Leanne Stirland has now expanded her business and is about to open Smarty Paws in High Road, Beeston, this Monday (September 18).
It comes after her first department grew to become very busy. Leanne, who was born in Beeston however now lives in West Hallam, stated she needs to offer extra appointments for dog owners.
“I love the job, I love the clients and I love the dogs and it’s just being able to provide more slots,” Miss Stirland stated.

“It’s having the ability to present extra appointments. It’s [the Chilwell Road branch] just about absolutely booked till Christmas. I hate turning away dogs as a result of I do know what I give. I do know the service I give and the extent of service I give and I wished to offer that extra.
“I hate to show dogs away, it breaks my coronary heart that I’ve to show doggies away.”
The 32-year-old added that she ‘can’t imagine it’ after she completed her dream of opening a second salon. In 2019, Leanne instructed Nottinghamshire Live that ‘the dream is to open another salon’.
Leanne continued: “It’s nonetheless not hit, it’s nonetheless not sunk in. It’s simply so overwhelming, however it’s good. I’ve been simply as nervous as after I was opening the primary one as I’ve opened the second as a result of to me it’s not nearly business it’s such a ardour of mine. I like what I do and I like having the ability to groom dogs.

At the Chilwell Road website, Leanne defined that she’s discovered the best employees and that it’s at full capability now, with one full-time canine groomer and one other self-employed. She hopes to finally have 4 new employees members on the new salon on High Road.
Between three members of employees at Chilwell Road they often groom 12 to 14 dogs a day. Speaking about what her salon gives, she stated: “ “Essentially it’s the complete works, bathtub, dried, groomed, styled to how the proprietor needs it. It’s primarily pet trims that’s what you name it, versus present trims.
“The whole way I have designed my salons so you can see in. Just a really calm, welcoming [environment], most of our dogs that come in we call them our Smarty Paws family. They’re a part of the family, we sign Christmas cards and stuff for them. We just treat them like our own at the end of the day.”
Leanne first came upon concerning the new website, which was a former taxi agency, in January. She stated it ‘was in a bad way’.
It had taken her about six months to prepare and remodel the positioning. In the close to future, Leanne hopes to host seminars, coaching, and pet first assist coaching on the website.
Speaking about costs she added: “We try and stay within reason, I’ve always wanted it to be what I’d be happy to pay, we try and keep it on a competitive level within the area itself. We had to have a price increase in January like everybody did with the cost of living and stuff, but actually, a lot of customers were open to it. I do use really good quality products as well so that has to reflect the price.”
Leanne continued how the brand new business has been effectively obtained by native folks, she stated: “Everyone has been saying how significantly better I’ve made this finish of the High Road look. It’s simply been actually optimistic individuals who haven’t even obtained dogs have commented, saying ‘I haven’t got a dog but it looks amazing’ which is good, it’s been actually widespread already.
“I’m just doing it, I guess. Again, the whole experience is really overwhelming but I believe I can do it. I’ve found my niche in life and it comes naturally to me, I know what works – especially for the business.”
