BAY CITY, MI — On Halloween evening, a Bay City man was walking his canine when a teen approached him. Without provocation, the teenager drew a blade and stabbed the person in his neck.
Arrested shortly thereafter, the teenager is now dealing with grownup prison expenses.
About 10 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 31, a 64-year-old man was walking his canine behind his house within the space of Center Avenue and North Sheridan Street when he encountered a teen. The teen requested to pet the canine, then reached up with a bladed weapon and stabbed the person in his neck, stated Bay City Public Safety Lt. Todd Armstrong.
The man and teenage didn’t know one another beforehand, with Armstrong describing the assault as random. Despite the date of the incident, the assailant was not wearing a Halloween costume, Armstrong added.
After stabbing his sufferer, the teenager took off operating. The wounded synthetic it again inside his house, the place his partner referred to as 911, Armstrong stated.
The man was taken to space hospital, the place he obtained stitches to shut his wound. His damage was not life-threatening, Armstrong stated.
A short while after the incident, police responded to a household dispute name a number of blocks away. Upon arrival, they encountered 17-year-old Jorden A. Morris, who matched the stabber’s description. Officers collected proof — together with the blade — obtained statements from these current, and arrested Morris.
Morris on Nov. 1 appeared in Bay County District Court for arraignment on single counts of assault with intent to do nice bodily hurt lower than homicide and assault with a harmful weapon. Both expenses are felonies, the previous punishable by as much as 10 years in jail, the latter by as much as 4 years.
The arraigning decide set Morris’ bond at $15,000 cash-surety. Morris is to look for a preliminary examination on Nov. 14.
