(KPLC) – Arson dogs are a number of the important crewmembers of the firefighting groups serving to fight wildfires in Louisiana.

Investigators have decided arson to be the reason for the state’s largest hearth, the 31,000-acre Tiger Island Fire, in addition to the Lions Camp Road Fire in Vernon Parish.

The Office of State Fire Marshal shared a video of Canine Coordinator Lt. Mike Doucet and one of many state’s arson dogs, Pablo, demonstrating how Pablo finds accelerants left behind by arsonists.

Firefighters or investigators deliver Pablo alongside to the scene of a fireplace, and he can sniff out an ignitable liquid left behind, Lt. Doucet defined. Pablo alerts his handler to the accelerant, and crews accumulate a pattern for evaluation on the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab.

The state purchased Pablo in 2017, and he’s round 6 years old, Doucet mentioned. He will retire at age 8 or 9 and change into a daily canine.
