ARNOLD, Pa. (KDKA) — A Westmoreland County lady is implicated of shooting and eliminating her dog less than 2 months after embracing him.
Orphans of the Storm said Waylon, a young pester mix who was embraced April 30, was presumably shot by his owner, 49-year-old Susan Mullenax of Arnold, on Sunday.
Police said they discovered the dog in a garbage bag with a plainly noticeable gunshot injury to its shoulder and neck, the Trib reported.
Orphans of the Storm said everybody embracing animals from their shelter goes through a stringent screening procedure, and Waylon’s adoption didn’t raise any warnings.
The shelter said the staff explained Waylon as friendly, caring and lively. The volunteers bore in mind that he enjoyed getting attention and going on long strolls.
Mullenax was apprehended and charged with exacerbated cruelty to animals. An initial hearing is scheduled for June 22.
