GLENDALE, Ariz. — A German Shepherd was saved from a canal and got a yummy treat while doing so.
Officers with the Glendale Police Department reacted to the canal for an animal well-being check when a passerby saw the German Shepherd swimming without any path for escape, police said.
Officer Sorenson right away delved into action by eliminating his ballistic vest and weapon belt and hopped into the canal to attempt to rescue the dog. The dog was skittish and prevented the officer, however Officer Downey rapidly developed a strategy.
Downey’s partner had actually loaded him some newly baked pumpkin muffins for his patrol shift, so he understood the dog would be fascinated by the delicious treat.
The bribery worked and Sorensen had the ability to utilize the muffin to get the dog close enough that he might get onto his collar.
The dog was securely gotten rid of from the canal and reunited with his owners who lived down the street.
