DETROIT (FOX 2) – An abandoned dog is getting ready for a brand-new home after animal rescue groups invested days looking for her when she was spotted roaming Detroit with a packed toy.
“Everybody was publishing photos in Detroit of who they were calling Nicholas, now Nikki since it’s a female, and naturally began tagging Heather, South Lyon Murphy – can you help trap this dog?” said Katrina Weaver, the owner of It Is Pawzable Dog Training. “Everybody comes together and works as a group, which is so incredible.”
Nikki’s owner just recently passed away, and she was delegated roam the streets with her preferred toy.
Once her story was published online, individuals with It Is Pawzable, South Lyon Murphy Lost Animal Recovery, Sugar Mutts Dog Grooming, Almost Home Animal Rescue, and others came together to discover the German shepherd by revealing pictures of her to neighboring homeowners.
One next-door neighbor who had actually been feeding Nikki while she was homeless is now dealing with the saves to discover the dog a home.
Sadly, Nikki is heartworm positive, so she will require to go through 4 weeks of treatment.
“It (heartworm) can be avoided by offering your dog a tablet every month. As Nikki gets her care, the animal employees are ensuring she is all set to head to her foster home.
“I’ve dealt with South Lyon Murphy in the past. I groomed their dog Murphy, who was on the streets for months,” said Kristina Thompson, the owner of Sugar Mutts Grooming. “We’re simply happy to help. I saw the story, her and her stuffy simply walking around. It was so sad, and I simply connected to Heather and said we would like to help and belong of her happy home.”
Almost Home is gathering contributions to help spend for the treatment and Niki’s care.
