Tomorrow is Mother’s Day and, let’s face it; there is absolutely nothing like a mom’s love.  Because Mother’s Day generally represents human mothers and their kids, a dating application called “DIG,” tailored towards “dog people,” in 2018 introduced “National Dog Mom’s Day,” commemorated each year on the 2nd Saturday of May each year.  It was produced to thank all dog mothers, consisting of foster dog mothers, for the love and commitment they provide to our furry canine buddies and to commemorate the unique bond that exists in between dogs and their female human guardians.

A while back, a debate taken place when M.A. Wallace composed a short article in “The Cut” ( ) on why it is incorrect for family pet owners to see themselves as family pet “parents.”  I, like much of those who felt a highly opposing view, think our animals become part of our family.  And, if you pass the meaning as explained by puptrait.com that “Dog Mom” is a casual and caring term for a dog fan who is female and thinks her dog belongs to her instant cross-species family, then I would specify without doubt that, “I am a Dog Mom.”

So, in the spirit of the day, why not, with a little humor, take a closer take a look at what being a “Dog Mom” is everything about?  To begin, comprehend that “Dog Mom” is not the only name one can be called.  There are others, such as:  “Pupper’s Person” or “Puppy Parent,” depending upon what is chosen; “ Mother of Doggos”; “Matron of Mutts,” which, while I am not insane about the title, most likely fits me more than a lot of; “Crazy Dog Lady”; “Fur Mamma”;  and “Head of the Howlhold,” a little liftoff on “Head of Household.”   There are most likely other ones available, and I would enjoy to hear them.

Some of the advantages of being a “Dog Mom” is that there is no prolonged pregnancy included.  There is no requirement to go through the dreadful early morning illness or labor and shipment.  You can put almost anything in front of your “fur-kids” to consume, and they will probably gobble it up without doubt and without hassle.  As far as remaining mad at you, it doesn’t occur.  These “kids” don’t hold animosities and will provide you kisses anytime, in any location, without being humiliated. There is no requirement to eliminate over the television remote or what programs to view.  As long as there is a comfortable area to snuggle, the doggos enjoy.

At this point, some might question why we believe it is fine to call ourselves “Dog Moms.”  Even though we might not share every detailed characteristic, I would wager everybody “moms” have more than one quality in typical.  Consider yourself a “Dog Mom” if you sleep with your dog and he has his own area on the bed. Suppose you commemorate the canine’s Gotcha Day, Birthday, or a significant Holiday with a present.  If you purchased him something while purchasing something else, consider yourself a “Dog Mom.”  If you state ‘sorry’ and ‘excuse me’ at any time to your dog, or speak with him like he comprehends you, consider yourself a “Dog Mom.”  If you have treats and poop bags in your pockets, handbag, car, anywhere and all over, consider yourself a “Dog Mom.”  If you believe dog hair is either part of your diet plan or a style device, consider yourself a “Dog Mom.”  If you repair Fido’s preferred toy, by either stitching it back together or eliminating the squeaker so he doesn’t swallow it, consider yourself a “Dog Mom”.  If you have more photos of your dog than your loved one, consider yourself a “Dog Mom.”

Perhaps many of all, we understand our dogs are not the cleanest of animals; in truth, they can be terribly untidy. Whether they play or wallow mud or dirt, swim in foul-smelling ponds, consume things they shouldn’t and after that toss it up, chase skunks and get sprayed, destroy their own pillows or ours, and so on., they are dogs being dogs and we accept it. We likewise understand “Dog Moms” are typically stuck tidying up all their messes.  So, for all the “Dog Moms” out there, I want to state “Thank you” for making your dog or dogs part of your family, nevertheless big it might be.  By providing a safe house to lay their heads during the night, a nurturing location to learn and grow, and a home filled with love, you have actually altered their lives permanently.

Whether you have one dog or an entire pack, you are privy to a few of the most terrific love and love worldwide.   No matter what difficulties the day brings, the minute you walk through your front door, your canine buddy quickly makes things much better.  He is there for you through all the good and the bad.  It may be due to the fact that he understands who he gets his stubborn belly rubs from, though I question that it is the only factor.  No matter what the factor, hug that puppy tight and confess that you are extremely lucky to be his (or their) “Dog Mom.”
