Luckily, nobody in the family was hurt, however Duke, simply one-year-old, bolted and he hasn’t been discovered yet.
Nemcova said in an email that the family is offering a $5,000 reward for locating him – and still “is looking for him every day.”
No family members were hurt in the blaze that began at around 4:40 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3, at 214 Holland Road.
The Rubin family of seven – parents and five children – escaped the house after fire alarms sounded in the house, according to a Facebook post on the Holmdel First Aid Squad site.
Fire officials have said a small terrier dog is safe, and one cat ran from the house, another jumped from a window and was being treated by a veterinarian. There may be other cats unaccounted for, police have noted.
See the Holmdel police Facebook page for more information about Duke, should you spot him.
A GoFundMe site for the family has received 771 donations for the family now, raising over $67,000. The house is destroyed, however the family is staying nearby, Nemcova said, in part to search for the pet.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, according to township fire authorities.
