A canine in Delaware now has a fur-ever home after spending 1,007 days at a shelter.

Tessy, a 5-year-old black Labrador retriever combine, was adopted Oct. 20 by Jeanine Walker-Porter and Jeff Bush.

Walker-Porter advised “Good Morning America” she and Bush had talked about adopting a canine, and when she realized of Tessy at a neighborhood fall competition in her neighborhood on the finish of September, she was instantly drawn to her.

“Her story broke my coronary heart. The first day I noticed her and her smile, her photos, I used to be similar to, ‘She’s the one for me,'” the Millsboro, Delaware, resident mentioned.

Leigh McKinley, an authorized canine coach and a director at Humane Animal Partners, a shelter with three places in Delaware, had labored with Tessy for over two years earlier than her October adoption. McKinley advised “GMA” Tessy first arrived at Humane Animal Partners in January 2021 and had been adopted out twice earlier than, however returned each occasions.

Walker-Porter mentioned Tessy has begun to settle in to her new home within the two weeks since she was adopted. She calls Tessy “a love bug” who likes to go on walks, particularly on the seaside and alongside the woods, and take pleasure in her treats and squeaky toys.

“Tessy brings plenty of love and pleasure to our life,” Walker-Porter mentioned. “She means the world to me. I couldn’t think about my life with out her.”
