A Homewood man has been charged after he reportedly killed his canine and held police at bay for almost an hour final week.
Paul Joseph Albano Jr., 43, is charged with felony cruelty to a canine and three misdemeanor counts of reckless endangerment, Homewood police Sgt. John Carr introduced Tuesday.
“We will not be commenting on Albano’s custody status at this time,’’ Carr said, “but would like to relay that he does not pose any threat or danger to the public.”
His bond on felony costs is $15,000. Bond on the misdemeanor costs totals $3,000.
Homewood police had been dispatched at 11:49 a.m. Monday, Nov. 6, to carry out a welfare verify on Albano’s home on Edgecrest Drive, off Oxmoor Road.
Once officers arrived, they heard a number of pictures fired from throughout the home.
Officers made entry however retreated when extra pictures had been fired.
A fringe was arrange and Homewood’s SWAT staff arrived on the scene. Albano’s spouse and oldsters had been standing with police a distance away from the home.
Police and not less than one member of the family of the person spoke with him over a loudspeaker, asking him to give up. He was alone inside the home.
At about 12:45 p.m., Carr mentioned, the person surrendered peacefully.
After he left the home, police discovered his canine useless inside.
He was taken to a hospital for analysis.
